WiseWoods
WiseWoods consists of 23 acres of woodland and grassland. It was neglected for many years. Since buying it in early 2025, we have embarked on an ambitious journey to restore the woodlands, tackle the non-native invasive plants and create the perfect environment for nature-led wellbeing and education activities. Below are a few of the activities already available, and you can find more WiseWoods updates on our blog page.
Woodland walks
There’s something incredibly calming and healing about walking through a woodland, making it the ideal place for coaching and therapy activities.
We are preparing various woodland walks for nature-led walk-and-talk coaching. Some of the walks will be on the flat and suitable for all seasons. Others will be more challenging, such as the paths down to the riverbank, only suitable in dry weather.

Education partnerships
We believe in the power of real-life, nature-led learning, and the importance of inspiring children to engage with the natural environment from a young age. That’s why we are keen to build partnerships with educators and schools.
School groups
We were delighted to welcome student groups from Esteem North Academy for weekly community activity sessions in autumn 2025. The students (and their teachers) worked hard on dead hedging, path making, Himalayan balsam pulling, and more.
If you’d like to arrange for students from your school to get involved in restoring and looking after WiseWoods, contact us to discuss options.
Teacher support
Having worked in education for two decades, Ingrid understands the stress and exhaustion experienced by teachers.
WiseWoods is the perfect place for you to unwind. Escape from the pressure of teaching for an hour or two and enjoy a mindful walk, lose yourself in a restoration task like dead hedging, or participate in some walk-and-talk coaching. Or do a bit of each. Contact Ingrid to discuss options.
Photography
The diverse woodland and grassland habitats at WiseWoods offer photographers a constantly changing selection of scenes to capture throughout the year.
Mindful photography walks
Photography encourages mindfulness. It keeps you in the present, holding in stillness and silence to get the picture you want. It helps you notice tiny details and see things with a fresh perspective. It’s also relaxing, even helping you regulate your breathing.
Our photography walks are not photography classes. They won’t train you to be a professional wildlife photographer. Instead, we guide you around WiseWoods, focusing on a particular area or theme each time, inspired by the seasons and the weather.
You’ll have time to explore the details of the woods, grassland and river and practise different ways of capturing what you see. If you attend photography walks throughout the year, you’ll watch the seasons unfold at WiseWoods, each bringing a wealth of different colours, textures, shapes and movement.
