About us
Jack and Boston
In equine facilitated learning the horses show us the way. Our two most important team members are therefore 9-year-old Jack and 5-year-old Boston. They are both Clydesdales.
We don’t want to tell you too much about them, as it’s important that you build your own relationship with them and discover their personalities for yourself. For now, we’ll show you some photos of the boys.
Clydesdales
Clydesdales are a rare breed of draught or ‘heavy’ horse. They are big horses, but also very gentle and sensitive. We will design all sessions so that your interactions with Jack and Boston can be as active or reflective as you want. You won’t ride them, and you can choose when to interact or how much time you spend up-close with them.
Ingrid Lewis
My role is to help the horses do their job, by organising sessions and equipment. I also help you better interpret your interactions with the horses.
I am a LEAP-qualified equine facilitated learning practitioner. My passion for horses started at the age of five when the local gymnastics club was full and my parents took my brother and me for a riding lesson instead. As they say, one thing led to another and we were soon hooked on horses.
Through my teenage years, a horse called Cobby was my constant companion, confidant, and therapist. I would sit with him for hours under a beech tree in the field while he listened to my problems.
Adult life took me into a non-equine career in the charity sector, where I have spent 25 years focusing on human rights, equality, and inclusive education. For the last 14 years I have been the managing director of Enabling Education Network. I have benefitted from incredible learning opportunities and gained insights into surviving and thriving as a leader in the challenging and constantly changing voluntary sector.
I have been lucky to have access to horses to help me cope with and reflect on many difficult work and personal situations over the years. That’s why I decided to train as an equine facilitated learning practitioner and help more people access the healing and transformative power of horses.
You will find us listed under ‘North West’ in the LEAP ‘find a therapist’ directory.
